PIU PIU DOCUMENTARY
Posted on 17/05/2012
Montreal is having a new generation of beatmakers – aka the Piu Piu scene – and they’re getting a quite good momentum notably with the ArtBeat nights. There’s a lot of new music produced in dark basements/small rooms made of phat dysfonctionnal bass, cric! crac! croc! bleeps in echo and obscures francophone samples.
Aïsha Vertus and Philippe Sawicki (awesome photographer who covered all the Karnival parties) decided to do a documentary about it with lots of interview – yes I’m in it: the Piu Piu documentary. It’s almost done and it will be shown on June 8th for a great release party with ONRA doing a live set as well.
In the meantime you can check/download the FREE compilation featuring 16 tracks of mostly unreleased tracks by KenLo, Kaytradamus, The Incubator, Vlooper, SevDee, etc!
